Ears popping...

Sometimes when I smoke, depending on how much, my ears pop. And if I continue to smoke, they pop even worse. Eventually they get so bad, my high is ruined and it gets painful. Obviously I never push it this far but I'm a regular smoker so I've done it once to see what happens. Has anyone else ever had this problem?
