It's like watching any other fictional TV show except the cast is also highly trained, highly athletic stunt men.
2. Small therapeutic amounts of steroids have always been allowed. Vince McMahon has a thing for big wrestlers and many wrestlers didn't reach main event status untill they got highly built. WWE doesn't support the use of other drugs have fired and suspended many people for it (RVD and Sabu got caught by the police with marijuana right when RVD won the WWE title. As punishment Vince stripped him of the title and suspended him. and they are forced to have policy against steroids, even though you can look at Vince McMahon himself and see that even Vince juices...
1&2 Combined: There was no cheating or lying at work with Benoit. He did just as many many wrestlers have done before. And again all they found in his system was extra testosterone which is technically grouped together with steroids but is not really a steroid and there was only small amounts of in his system. The media likes to twist things around and they love to sensationalize things.

I'm afraid you are trying to change the rules around.
1. Against the rules. Check
2. Used performance enhancing drugs.... check
3. Any performance done by him with drugs that are illegal make him a cheater. That's all. Out in life....those are the real rules no matter what kind of spin you try to put on it. He paid the price. So did a bunch of people who didn't deserve it. .....check
And that's aside from this thought.....DId he hit his wife? Was he another oj? I don't know....but I could certainly believe it after the rest of this. If it were true....what kind of "man" is that?
AND..... I honestly had NO idea that the fights were staged...I've thought they were real (although I've heard that but I always thought it was sour apples talking) so I will give on that one.Guess you can tell I've never watched the sport.
However, When the part of the job is specifically.....don't do this.....and you...SPECIFICALLY......do it AGAINST THE RULES then you cheat in my book and your "work" is contaminated.

Out in the real world it's "against the rules" to smoke weed....think about that for awhile. Just like we argue and support marijuana even considering it's illegal many Pro Wrestlers feel there is a difference from using steroids and abusing them.
Again its against WWE policy to have large amounts of steroids, Benoit had amounts that wouldn't have gotten him in trouble. So that eliminates #1 and #3 for the most part.

i can't believe this has stirred up some argument between the two of you....
shit, the dude killed his family... he's taboo in the media right now... this doesn't suprise me...
however one fucked up thing DOES NOT merit erasing every last thing he's ever done in the world, good or bad... should anyone look past what he did in his last momments? fuck no... should everyone forget his influence in entertainment just becuase of what he did at the end of his career? again, hell no....
as someone mentioned he was a major influence in wrestling.. you can't just erase him... do i believe what's going on right now is 'right'? yeah, i sorta do.... he kinda deserves the years of disgust he's bound to receive for what he did.... can use the drugs as an excuse all you want.... but it's not... seriously....
you are always in control of your actions... the drugs don't possess you and make you do anything... you let yourself make such actions....

Really i dont understand why people idolize pro wrestling so much, and this chris benoit issue really puzzles me. He was some crazy motherfucker that killed his family, and just cuz he pretended to wrestle he gets all the news coverage in the world... just a psycho strung out dickhead. Accomplishments? I thought you actually had to accomplish something to have "accomplishments"...

Umm he entertained people and not just like some stuck up overpaid movie star. He put his body on the line day in and day out, he endured the hardship of traveling constantly and having long periods of time away from family an friends to go across the world to entertain people. Thats what he accomplished. Professional Wrestling is very much like watching a show of Super Heroes and Super Villians battle eachother. It combines Fictional TV with Sports and athletics. People especially children idolize wrestling stars, look up to them like they do to Superman or Batman. For older people it's like watching any other show on TV, there's drama and action, and comedy. There is also an admiration of skill and techincal ability like watching figure skating or dancing. Being able to perform stunts and work with other wrestlers in putting on a match. Every move, every toss every slam tells a story in the match without words and older, experience wrestling viewers can appreciate that as much as all the other things in wrestling.
That's why people watching wrestling, that's why we look up to wrestlers. They are more than just actors on a stage, they put their bodies, their very lives on the line to give us every day people the chance to let our imaginations run wild to have heroes to look up to.
