How long till increased music appreciation tapers away?

Listening to music stoned is one of the best things I can imagine. Because of this, I enjoy starting a listening session as soon as I smoke in order to get the most out of the experience. If I get stoned and play some PS2 or watch TV first, I'll generally toke some more (even if it's just half an hour later) before lying down with my iPod.

Is this necessary? How long do you find it takes before music just doesn't sound as magical?

I've noticed it kicks in about fifteen minutes after I toke, and will last for maybe ten or fifteen minutes. One time after I had just donated blood I got really high, and it lasted for over an hour. That was awesome - I went all the way through Shpongle's Nothing Lasts and it was mind-blowing.

I think things like that are a slight placebo.
When I get really stoned and play CS:S, as soon as I notice I'm playing really well I will start to play really bad, because I've noticed I'm no longer high and in the mood.
Basically I find if I start thinking about it, I will lose that 'special' feeling. Its lose lose for me if I try not to not think about it, it doesn't work at all.
My advise would be not to think about it, and enjoy your music.

Music sounding better is deffinatley not placebo for me. If have a good high going there is deffinatley a difference in the quality of music.

I concur. Talk about advertising your oblivion. The only thing worse than an oblivious person is one who is proud of it and flaunts it. Unless they're oblivious to the fact they're flaunting it....:wtf:

Hopefully, the same reaction music elicits when high will be close to the reaction when sober. I wouldn't call it a placebo, more of an undefined psychosomatic response. Music has an ability (just like smell) to penetrate the brain and produce vivid memories (hopefully pleasant and nostalgic ones). If they are good memories, and you're a secure person when sober, the degree of enjoyment when sober should be comparable to the degree of enjoyment when stoned

When I listen to my iPod when I'm walking I usually have it soundtrack my life in a way...if anyone can understand that.
