Increasing the amount of hours the plant is getting can stress the plant. If you're going to do 24/0, do it from the start. Then decrease from there. It's a cycle plant meaning that as it ages it matures into its next cycle. Reversing that cycle can confuse the plant and depending on genetics and circumstances (like heat, nutrients, etc.) it can stress the plant to grow male flowers. Avoid increasing the hours of light and only decrease it as this will simulate the end of the season.

Hope this helps,
Bob.
