Well, plants do their chemical processes during the dark period I guess, and they also do most of their growing during the night cycle. So 24hrs of light won't display much changes until the lights are dropped. 1 week of 24 hrs of light, then dropping to 18/6 showed me the most vegetative growth as a combined method. 24hrs of light didn't show me any significant plant development untill 18/6. I reckon the plants were storing a shed load of energy up to saturation point, then 18/6 allowed them to do grow strong, fast and quick.

I get fabulous roots under 24h.
Your root vigor is largely dependent upon soil lightness and oxygenation.
I recently did a test where I put newly-rooted clones in rapidrooters into party cups full of very light compost/perlite mix. The roots hit the sides of the cups in 2 days under 24h light. No complaints here!

I have tried different lighting periods ... my plants seem MUCH happier with 18/6 ... they need the dark hours ... if 24 suits you, go for it ... I will stay at 18/6 ... :smokin:

18/6 is the way to go IMHO.....24hrs just makes them grow too fast....often times you'll get large leaves, rapid growth, but a weak center stalk that can't support everything.
patience is one of the most important virtues of maximizing how fast your crop grows

I have never run an auto strain. If you are talking about cloning lowryder etc, don't bother, it's not a viable prop option for an auto strain.

I've always used 24/0 in the past and compared to grow logs that I've seen, my plants were doing just as well if not better than those on 18/6. I've never tried 18/6 though, so I really can't compare, but I've not seen any side by side pictures of one method being better than the other. Until then, I will continue 24/0 and 12/12, although I may give 18/6 a try in order to foliar spray my plants in the dark period, which is a no-no if you're running your lights 24/0.
Peace,

Nope, to auto-flower it HAS to have C. ruderalis (Siberian hemp) in its genes.

when you run the lights for 24h a day you should be making auto-flowering plants. Do you have any plants in veg over 3-4 months that you grew from seed this way? I think it's the same for clones too I'll have to read up on it.

I have always used 24h right from seed.
I have seen no evidence that points to stress, and I am happy with my F/M ratios- always over 50%F.
Sorry I can't be more helpful- never tried 18/6.
