I've sometimes fantasized about the revolution (when high)....

how the twelve Stoner Lords on Earth band together to overthrow the prohibitonist laws, and I end up leading them, and securing weed to be legal on an international scale.....and then I stand up in front of a cheering crowd of millions of people and announce that weed is fully legal....

I am then presented with a huge bong filled with white widow and they give me the honour of being the first to hit the Bong of Freedom. Many years after my death, the bong's in a museum.

I will take part as being one of those Stoner Lords :jointsmile:

And I am so sick of seeing it advertised the way it is, and how U.S citizens are lied to right to our faces. And we buy into every word of it. But now onto my question, I see all these support groups and think they are doing a really amazing job and I wish the best of luck to all of them... But, do you really ever think it will happen? Waiting for 12:01

Itâ??s hard waiting. Itâ??s New Yearâ??s Eve, but my party does not start until 12:01. I sit in the half-lit room, watching the clock as a fly crawls across the face of the clock on the wall. The red second hand has never moved so slowly. It doesnâ??t disturb the fly as it creeps itâ??s way around the dial again. Will it ever be 12:01?
At 12:01, the laws change. Tomorrow, cannabis will be legal. At 12:01, I will light up a joint and step outside and smoke without fear for the very first time. Oh, Iâ??m a medical user, but that hasnâ??t meant Jack. If they wanted to get you, they would. We all knew it and lived like timid little mice-- hiding in the shadows, afraid to be seen or heard. At 12:01, there will no longer be medical usersâ??no more over-priced doctors giving you permission to treat yourself with a herb; no more shiver when a cop car goes by; no more paying a seedy dealer the same price as gold for some dried flowers. No more, never again. No more deception. I wonâ??t need to camouflage myself in â??straightâ?� clothes ever again. I no longer will have to pretend that donâ??t need this herb. I can say â?? I love this herb that has given me back my life. Maybe it can help you, too.â?� I can even wear my peasant blouse with the embroidered marijuana leaves to work. What can they say now? At 12:01, my world changes. Everyoneâ??s world changes. I have rolled a perfect joint for this occation. It is a pale, translucent cylinder with the ends crimped tight. I can see tiny bits of the cannabis through the paper. Itâ??s my finest homegrownâ?¦as it should be. Iâ??ll be lighting up for all my friends and loved ones who didnâ??t make it to todayâ?¦ David, Richard, my Mom, all of them.
My party isnâ??t going to be loud or flashy, Iâ??ll light some Japanese incense, not out of paranoia, but because the scent is pleasing to me. Quiet music will play and I will smoke while thinking of all those Iâ??ve lost, all those who died in prison for trying to ease their pain, all those who have died in a prison of pain for lack of a simple herb. As I smoke, I will try to let go of all the fear, anger and pain prohibition has caused. I will try to forgive. I will keep a quiet vigil until dawn, smoking and reflecting. I know this is not what most folks would call a party, but itâ??s my party. It is a celebration of a long sought and hard fought victory. It is my freedom.
Just before sunrise, I will place my beautiful, closet-grown, secretly nurtured plants out on my patio for the first time. They will feel the kiss of real sunlight and wind on their leaves and buds. My lights will be for winter use only and wonâ??t need to be hidden away in a back closet like some shameful secret. This is how it should be.
As the sun rises, I will bathe and get into my old â??hippieâ?� clothes. Iâ??ll take the bus downtown to the NORML office. We are having an â??Open Houseâ?� party there in the morning. We will be handing out little boxes with labeled seeds (a big â??thank youâ?� to our west coast and Canadian friends), two brownies and a eighth of an ounce for free and I will be one of the people handing them out. (We have been planning and working secretly on this since we got the news of the lawâ??s change. You wouldnâ??t believe how much work went into this!) That will be part of my party, too. We will be freeing people from their pain and giving them the way to grow their own medicine. Knowing our crowd, we will rejoice, sing, dance and laugh our way through the day, smoking all the way. As the day goes on, old friends will be set free from jails across the nation. A few may drop in, but I expect most will be going straight home- where they should have been all along. But thatâ??s all in the morning. Right now, I sit and watch the fly slowly walk around the face of the clock as the second hand moves one more tick â?¦Iâ??m waitingâ?¦ Waiting for 12:01.
