a couple of ?? on sexing, i have bits and pieces

ok i know sum might say i need to look harder. but here's what im trying to find out i think i have it but want to make sure.plus i want to know if there are more ways than one on doing this.ok my ? is about finding the sex it's not how iv'e got that.

i know what to look for but rather i need to know when and if theres more than one way? reason i ask is iv'e watched the green man vid and he said to find sex he cuts clones and put them into flower and found sex that way. then he knew what was male/female. so i know that way to do it but i don't have a set up like that it's a all in one deal for now anwyways. so is there another way??with out doing it his way/that way?

is there a way with out flowering or am i gonna just have to wait and flower the whole crop when it's time and hope i catch the males (if any)in time?? and yes iv'e read a ton but when most ask in here the same thing but it don't seem to go through it from start to finish and any thing thats extra like more ways than one to do it.so i guess my ? is there a way to find sex in veg stage or without have to move or take clones and wait for them to grow?

and if that is the only way whats the time line to do it all how early to take clones to find sex and all that. cause from what iv'e read about cloning it says to wait for 4 or 5 good sets of leafs b4 u take clippings. well thats seems to be around the 4th to 5th week or more of veg from seed. and if u have to take clones from that point and wait how long will clones on 12/12 take b4 showing sex? do u see where im going with this im guessing it would take atleast 2 or 3 weeks to sex a clone?? im just looking for options or all the ways to do it thanks

iv'e also read that u could switch to 12/12 till it shows sex and then switch back to 18/6 but is that good for the plant would that not stress it at all??

Stress yes but it needs it. The best way is to start as much as you can. Go 12/12 light and when you see the first white hairs go back to veg. Kill all others that are male or show no signs. Mother that plant to 2 or 3 feet. Take cutting grow untill ready for flowering. This mother can yield cutting for more than 2 years.

OR take your chances and get the males out when you see them. There is no other way to sex.

oh ok i see so when would be best or should i say at what week or leaf set should u start 12/12 to find sex. could i do it young say 3 to 4 weeks in? then switch back and how long does it take to show sex a round about time 2/3 days??

The best way is to start as much as you can.>>>what do u mean by this? start as many plants as u can at the same time?if so thats what i'd have to do is start all at the same time per my set up

A caveat to Locnar's excellant post- some males will express their sex later than average, some females earlier than average. This technique will get 95%+ of your males, but it's possible for a few to slip by.

Just sayin' that there are no absolutes.

Yea my little drip system held 6 , so that's what I started. Still wait for 3 to 4 true lesf sets and then go 12/12. To show flower signs can take 2 to 3 weeks. Males tend to show early but not always. That is why so many of us have mothers. It takes time to start with .Then saves a lot of time on later grows for cloning. Seems when I start 6 from seed 2 or 3 will be male. That's half my harvest gone.

When you see female flower signs on the best and biggest female take a few cuttings ( MOTHERS) cut the males and flower on with the rest. This way you will get something while growing the mother for next clones.

Do NOT put your plants into flowering then back into veg--------much better way.

Pre-flowers indicate sex long before auctal flowers form. Look closely at the internodes and you will see either little white strings (looks like fishing line) those are female. Males look like itty-bitty balls.

This appear around 20-30 days in veg.

The fastest way is to take cuttings and apply 12/12 light-------don't even have to have roots first. Floros are fine for this purpose.

Always take cuttings before flowering begins----even a couple of days of 12/12 sends the plants into the flowering cycle.

k thanks for the info loc and,alaric are u saying if i just leave in veg for 20 to 30 day under 18/6 they will show themselfs??

they will show preflowers in 18/6 but not all will show within 30 days you may have to wait up to 6-7 weeks for some plants to show there sex but its still better than flowering them and going back to veg, just be patient.
