Fluffy/Not Really Compact Bud & Stronger Stem Solution?
My friend has some babies, they're awesomely awesome healthy except the stems are a bit too weak to hold the buds, so he has to tie them up. THE DAMN LEAVES WILL NOT DIE LIKE THEY SHOULD and they've been 7 weeks into flowering. The thing is, the buds don't seem so dense and the leaves are hella green.
There is a osc fan, the 400W HPS is 10 inches away from them and their roots are HUGE and WHITE as rice. Temp 78 constant, light leak not an issue, water farm setup + airstone/more root holes mod. Advanced Nutrients 1/1/1.
So switch it up to 2 Micro/1 Grow/3 Bloom ratio + some Big Bud. Think this will create better results? I mean, wtf...the leaves should be falling off damnit!
So I'm thinking, he should cut down on the nitrogen and use more bloom on these sativas? This way, the leaves will lack nitrogen causing the plants to use up the stored energy and making/forcing the bloom nutes more "avaliable/adapt/a way of saying F the BS" for more budding?
I think I kind of understand why people mess with their 3part formulas. 1/1/1 sounds like it is more of the "general plant formula" while trying other formulas at different stages may result WAY better depending on the strain?
Oh and other than wind, what kind of stuff do you use to make the stems very thick on not so thick stem strains? These sativas stretched quite a bit, but there must be something that can help!
If anyone could answer a question or give some feed back, I'd appreciate it a lot. Thank you all, this forum has always been my favorite. (even if you don't answer me, which never happens, but as noobish as I am, feel free not to ;D sorry for having to take your time away).
I love you all so much!Abunai Reviewed by Abunai on . Fluffy/Not Really Compact Bud & Stronger Stem Solution? Fluffy/Not Really Compact Bud & Stronger Stem Solution?
Using feed that contains more P & K will not starve the plants of nitrogen because your fert should still have a bit of N in the solution..Because it still needs nitrogen and I wouldn't ever recommend starving your plant of anything until it's 2-3 weeks prior to the harvest..every single nutrient is essential to the growth of the plant but more bloom ferts will cause it to use less nitrogen for leaf and growth overall and focus more on blooming and producing their flowers. I suggest you get some kind of bamboo stick or something similar and tie it around the pot and tie your branches to that to hold it up, I had a similar problem with my heavy buds. Doesn't matter about the density, (or how compact they are) they are just weighing more than what the stem can hold. Also you guys should have been feeding them the right blooming nutes LONG before 7 weeks of growth, if it's a Sativa you might have a maximum of 6 more weeks of growth...maybe. If it's a hybrid it might be sooner but usually Sativas do take longer to grow, mines is a hybrid and it's going to take around that long as most Sativas do. Some take even longer. And as for branch thickening there might be some solution but IMO most Sativas I have seen just have lanky branches and usually do need support but it doesn't really matter to me, if you give it the support it needs, skinny branches or not it can give you fat fuckin' nuggets!
