barry bonds a disgrace
I don't like the way he acts but he is the best homerun hitter ever. I played college baseball and I've tried steroids. It didn't take me to the major league level like I hoped. If you got to do something fun for a living where the best employee made 30 million a year but where minor leaguers make like $30k per year, would you do it? I know a few pro athletes and all have either tried or are on a cycle right now. My only side effects were weighing 250 with a six pack, strong as an ox and boners 24/7. The best defensive player in the NFL tested positive last year for steroids and was suspended half the year. It would have made every front page and news show if it would have been a bench warmer in MLB, yet no one hardly talked about it. I guess my point is I don't really care what they take, with that much money on the line I would too! Most all at least take steroids in the off season when not tested. It is hard to train right during the season anyway.

barry bonds a disgrace
Had to respond to this one. I don't even really like baseball, as I prefer to watch football or basketball, but Barry Bonds is my favorite player. I have followed him since he played with Pittsburgh, and have to disagree that he is a "disgrace". I will be celebrating when he breaks the record. I am not commenting on the steroid issue except to say that I am not Barry Bonds, and I did not witness him take anything. I do not know if steroids helped him acheive the level he has in MLB, but who is to say what any player took, past or present? If steroids are so great, and you are able to take them, not get caught, and gain such an edge in a sport, then why isn't everyone on them? And why isn't everyone a professional athlete? I say it is because while steroids may increase strength, they do not increase skill. A great deal of skill is required in many sports, and if you lack that, there aren't enough steroids in the world to make you a pro.
