Are you thinking of the word "consult"?
"Consult" or "reference" are your two closest synonyms for the context you cited, I suspect. "Refer to," "review" or "revisit" are others that might work which my fellow members have already suggested. "Penis" was certainly a fun option!
Doesn't that drive you nuts not to be able to nail a word like that? There's a common flowering plant that I can never recall when I need to say the word. It grows all over Texas and the southern United States in the summertime. I can see the plant in my head now, and I could point to an actual example of it on my neighbor's porch if I needed to, but until someone else comes home who's not aphasic on that particular word, it will not come to me. I have hope, however, that if I needed to recall that word this very afternoon before my husband or son got home, I could rely on PSteve to give me all the best options there were, practically before I knew I needed them.\"That best portion of a good man\'s life: his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and love.\"
