this story happened a few weeks ago, just thinking back on it and reflecting, its funny now especially since i was just promoted to assistant manager, very shortly after this happened

i work at a fast food joint, its inside a petrol station/carwash, we share the same building with them, anyways, sometimes after i lock up the shop, i gotta clean up, put food in the fridge and do some paper work, when the shop is open and i need to serve customers, i never smoke, but when i lock up i like to go out back, have a quick smoky, this makes the next half hour pass quickly,

so the other night i have a friend come and visit, he too works for the same fast food joint i do, but in a different location and a different boss, still he knows the drill and sometimes i help him close his shop, other times he helps me close up mine,

on this night the two of us went out back, had some doob, afterwards he asked me if i could buy him some gum, he was supplyin the weed, i get a discount on gum, figured it was the least i could do, so i went into the petrol station next door, bought some gum and a pack of smokes, gave him my bank card, took me about 10 seconds to punch in my pin number and then i went back into work

the next day i walk into work and one of my coworkers whispers to me that the boss has been looking through the security cams all day and he is pissed off, apparently the bastard petrol station guy ratted me to his boss, who in turn told my boss, now i say hey to my boss, he doesnt say a thing, he told me hed be back in an hour, he had to go somewhere,

half an hour later one of my juniors walks into the shop, only thing is he was 2 hours early, he told me that the manager called him up and told him to get in the shop asap, she also told him that if i asked why he came early he was to lie and tell me that he thought he started earlier that day. the second he said this i figured, fuck, im getting fired. then the boss and the manager (boss is the actual owner, manager jus works for him) come in, and they call me over for a chat, basically just telling me the evils of weed, relating to me experiences theyve had and people they know who developed schizophrenia, 2 hour convo (which i was getting paid for btw), in the end they said they werent gonna fire me but if i wanted to continue smoking not to do it anywhere near the shop,

but yeah, it was a huge dick move for that petrol station guy, he didnt get any rewards of praise for dobbing me in, he had nothing to gain from it, but he did it anyway, am not sure why, all the other guys there love me except for this one arsehole, everytime i see him now i give him the stinkeye, he doesnt even walk into my shop anymore

i dont ever understand people who rat out people for no reason, infact imo it would have to be a damn good reason to be acceptable to rat anyone out, even if u dont like them for whatever reason, at all.

Well, I have sympathy for you and it was a dick move on the other guys part but you set your self up for it in the first place. lesson learned and luckily you kept your job.
