All this shit started in New York when the "rap" artists started the trend of dressing like guys going to jail, which includes the shoe-laces untied so that they can't run away. To idolize muggers, and other criminals, is just stupid. I blame it on the breakdown of the family, and the relegation of fatherhood to the level of an unnecessary relic. You catch one of these gang-punks alone, and they're afraid to even look you in the eye.

I agree it's stupid to idolize criminals, but I guess that's just unfortunately the way it is with some people. I also think it may have to do with absence of a mother/father figure and poverty stricken circumstances where these kids grow up and see nothing positive except for hustling drugs and basically 'doing what it takes'.

But, to say gangs, gang violence, and gangsta trends is because of rap artists? What lol?. The artists just bring what they experienced/saw [Way before they were artists] to the public. Many of them grew up in the situations mentioned above...and now they act as a reporter, sharing their upbringings with the rest of the world.

People get so upset when they hear a guy rapping about murder, drugs, guns, and all that...but they are simply just reporting the truth to you. People don't get mad at the guy on the news telling you about a murder, or even at a movie where you actually SEE the act of violence...but when it comes to hip-hop music...God forbid!

This is all you need to know. It's pretty close-minded to judge a whole lifestyle just because you don't agree with it.

Btw Hock...how are things? Party like it's 1999 with your posts lol.

You really don't think it's at all exagerrated? I agree that some rappers are probably truthful, but others just glory in their image without any real truth.

Well who doesn't hate a wanna be gangster

I know some real gangsters that are proud to be what they are
they've done some real shit and without the act they'd be dead

some move on to normal lifestyles
some stay stuck in that environment forever

    we gotta show some respect!
