Gotta look at thickness of glass, the thicker, the better. Don't buy pyrex, it's a waste of money and not nearly as good as glass.

But I think what your friend is refering to is prices and the way some headshops sell. Because with inexperienced customers, they'll jack the price up. You have some room to negotiate, after all you are the customer, and you know best
