I understand your stituaion, but I still think their "it's illegal" argument is valid, just because you are a minor and they are legally responsible for you. If you get caught, they have to deal with it. I think that it would probably be better for you to wait till you are 18(a legal adult) to try and convince your parents. That way, you could argue that you will take all legal responsibilities for your actions, since their main argument is that it's illegal.
