Exaugsted and Fed Up
I'm so exhausted and fed up with some shit at work. The store I'm at is floating in a bowl of shit. Our store manager is not a leader, he is the worst manager I have ever had. He has no time management skills. He puts everything off to the last minute making us stay late. I'll leave notes on his desk about customers who he needs to call and talk to. They are very detailed notes too, I use post it's and stick them to him pc monitor and he never calls them.
Last week I worked 60 hours which is ridiculous. On Friday the 13th I worked from 9am to 11pm and then had to be at work at 8:30 the next morning, and work until 8:30 that night. I bust my ass and it doesn't mean anything if we don't hit our numbers. All the progress you made doesn't matter if the numbers aren't met we never work hard enough and can always do better and more.
I cant make these people pay their rent. If they don't want to pay they ain't going to pay. Its that simple.
Then today is what topped the cake. I was out on the road all day, which I didn't want to be in the store anyway so that was a plus. But because of the busy day we had I didn't get to take my lunch break. We had to eat and ride.
We are suppose to get a 30 min lunch break. It says in the hand book that a lunch break means 30 minutes of uninterrupted and non work related time. I didn't get that.
So we get back at the store and I ask my manager how he wanted to fix my time. Did he want to clock me in 30 minutes earlier or 30 minutes later. He said what do you mean. I was like I didn't get my lunch break today. He says and I quote " Your bitching at the wrong person about that". I asked him what he meant by that and he was like did you eat? I said yes he was like ok you got lunch. I never get 30 mins for my lunch I eat when I can. I then told him what it said in the handbook and he just shrugged it off and said I still get clocked out for 30 mins.
OMG I got so pissed!:cursing: I cant believe that he said that to me. Well if your the wrong person to bitch to about it maybe your boss our district manager would like to know how your violating company policy.
From now on I'm taking my required 30 minute lunch break and it don't matter if I'm in the truck or in the store. If I'm in the truck it will be sitting outside of the place I decided to eat at for 30 and I don't care if I'm suppose to be delivering something or not it can wait. If I'm getting clocked out for 30 minutes, I'm not working for 30 minutes. If he says anything to me about it Then Ill go to the district manager and then to corporate until my issue is resolved.
I'm tired of working my ass off for a ridiculous amount of hours per week and not getting any respect or appreciation for what I do. Always telling me I could do more, and better when I have done my best. And now being clocked out whether or not I take a lunch brake. Fuck that I'm not working if I'm not getting paid for it.:S4:Dro_Princess Reviewed by Dro_Princess on . Exaugsted and Fed Up I'm so exhausted and fed up with some shit at work. If I were you Iā??d start looking for a new job. People like that piss me off too. If you do look for another job and they ask about your current employer donā??t say anything bad about them it makes you look bad.
And the thing you said about taking your lunch breakā?¦ I would do it too.

I like working at my place of work but I hate the way my manager runs the store and works us like work horses. It wouldn't be bad if we had someone there who would actually do their job instead of get everyone else to do it for them.
After my 120 days and my training is done, and they want to promote me to Assistant Manager, and its the same manager I will say no. And that means I turn in my store key, safe key, and alarm code. I'm not doing a Assistants Manager job when a store is all to hell and management sucks already. I'm already closing the store by myself and have opened it by myself. I hate being in there by myself at night closing up. It sucks and I can get a little nervous.

Are you the only one having problems with this idiot, how many employees is he in charge of and could you collectively make a complaint or have a quiet "unnoficial" word in his ear making it quite clear you and your co workers are not happy with his style of management before taking it further up the management tree.
Employees working together can make things look very bad for a manager, perhaps this should be pointed out to him quietly.
Failing that you could accidentily run over him in the car park.
Anyway hope you get it sorted out soon.

Some jobs are just like that. Take mine for example. I throw paper for a living for a high end print shop. Nobody takes a 'lunch break' unless a vendor or the owners decide to buy everybody lunch, and I work four ten hour days minimum. I average about fifty hours a week, factoring in the insanely busy periods.
I work under a 'lead pressman' that is incredibly anal about efficency, quality, and basically perfection. Our customers expect that. He is never wrong (...) and I am his bitch. He literally broke a press part one time and told me "Never do that again.", essentially telling me that as far as everyone else knew, that was something *I* broke. The part probably cost a few hundred dollars, and it was a cheap one.
I am constantly learning new ways that I am fucking things up, in some almost insubstantial way, which is often because of something that is fucked up already, beyond mine or his control, tiny dents in a 38 x 25" sheet for example. He constantly bitches about our (admittedly) incompetant graphics guy that fucks up traps, piles 100% builds of all four colors, everything he could basically fuck up , he does, which makes us both paranoid about everything we print, constantly looking for that fuck up(s).
I smoke cigarettes, he's an ex-smoker. Supposedly I get three smoke breaks per day but that's not really enough for me (ten hours is a long time), I literally suck down a cigarette in two minutes or less to get my fix, and sometimes suffer the consequences of some sort of ex-smoker wrath. He generally tells me when to take a smoke break, usually about two times, after that it's up to me to squeeze in a fix.
When the paper doesn't run right, he comes back and recklessly jacks with the paper feeder until it does, usually taking more time to make it run than I would would with my admittedly meager experience with large sheets (he's been running this particular machine for four years, I've been there six months), but it does efficiently make me look like a jackass.
Eighty percent of my job is to pick up large sheets of paper and flip them over into nice neat stacks. Usually stacks big enough to require a forklift to practically get them near the press in the first place. My arms are sore as hell every day. I have helped put more ink on flattened trees in my life than most people will ever encounter.
Tomorrow, some asshole will come to replace a part that helps keep the water cool, and he's a smoker. I know from experience from the last shop that I worked at he will milk the fuck out of it, which will result in me having to bust my ass to get done what is on the schedule, nay, exceed that, to make up for that yet unknown downtime, and we are starting out with a five skid (about 9k 25 x 38" a skid) job.
My job pushes me to a point that I never thought I was capable of, and yet I persist. Army strong? puhleeze, I have many a GI neighbor and they might have to worry about bullets, but they don't got shit on me for working hard. Any job I get hereafter (and I KNOW I can't do this for another twenty years) will be child's play. Why do I stay? Almost 100% health, with a 3% matching 401k. I also feel pretty good about earning my money.
Weigh the costs and benefits of your present gig. If they are fucking with your timecard, thats illegal, and raise a stink, but bide your time. Talk to other employees about time card mischief, build a big case, don't be a puss and just walk away.
By the way I actually like the guy I work with/under. He has some huge faults, but he's my boss, and I can at least respect him on some level. He could be worse. Don't let *personal* problems cloud the big picture of what just needs to get done.
And try to keep the whining to a minimum.

I would call information (1800FREE411, U have 2 listen 2 commercials, but it's better than paying the phone co $1.50 for a phone #) and get the telephone # for the state labor board and report that shit. I don't believe in workers being taken advantage of. We work too long and hard for the $ we are paid.
Americans take the least amount of vacation time.........
"U.S. employees are taking less time off than ever: Not only is the average number of annual vacation days granted to them a mere 12.4 - less than that of the average medieval peasant - but more than a third of us don't even use all of our allotted time off" (Chris Taylor, Business 2.0 Magazine senior editor)

It is just my opinion that you should be treated better than that. I have also had bad experiences with jobs/supervisors. At a call center job a supervisor wrote me up "because my skirt was too short" and it really wasn't THAT short, but she was pregnant at the time. When she came back to work from maternity leave how about she was wearing skirts way shorter than any I had. :wtf: I'm not generalizing for everyone, but I know several people employed in jobs that try to take advantage of them.
My fiancee, ironically, was also employed at at "paper" company, his was a newspaper, and he worked there for 10 years. He was fired in April because some carrier came in the building and threw a bundle of newspapers at his mother, (who also worked there) and it hit her on her side and arm. (his mother has also undergone treatment for leukemia within the past 2 years) So my fiancee asks the dude to step outside, and the guy pushes him, my fiancee punches him, and they have to pull him off the other guy. But, whole point, he was not the instigater, and the carrier was not even supposed to be in the building, by company rules, and yeah, he was fighting on the job, but still, after 10 years, you have no loyalty to an employee? The other person involved only worked there for a year or so. My fiancee did win his unemployment compensation case, he filed, and the company tried to object, and he had a decent 401(k) built up, so we were okay, until everyting was settled. He has a new job now, where hopefully things will go better.
I know we aren't all in a position to just quit jobs without another one lined up, but I would at least look online for something else, in your spare time. There are lots of jobs out there and you can get one where your efforts are appreciated.
