Urge Congress To Protect Patients' Rights!

    From NORML.COM
    "Support the 2007 Hinchey-Rohrabacher Amendment
The U.S. House of Representatives is expected to vote shortly on the 2007 Hinchey-Rohrabacher medical marijuana amendment, and we need your help to send a clear and overwhelming message to Congress to stop prosecuting medicinal cannabis patients.

Last year, despite a Republican-controlled Congress, 163 US representatives voted in favor of Hinchey-Rohrabacher -- 55 votes shy of the votes we need to stop Washingtonâ??s war on patients. This year, with a new Democrat-controlled Congress, we expect to achieve more support than ever before. However, we still need you to please contact your US Representative today and tell him/her to support this amendment.

If passed, the 2007 Hinchey-Rohrabacher amendment would prevent the Justice Department and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) from federally prosecuting state-authorized medical cannabis patients and their care-givers. NORML is asking you to take two actions to help shelter these seriously ill patients from the governmentâ??s war on cannabis consumers."

I know this probably isnt in the right place but I want alot of people to see this.
Go here and you will be able to send an email to congress! NORML -- Urge Congress To Protect Patients' Rights

I've already spoken to my legislators about this amendment. I also wrote to Beelzebush asking him to support it.
    As if he could read.

Urge Congress To Protect Patients' Rights!

I recently was researching the policy stances of Democrat vs. Republican presidential candidates (Granite Staters for Medical Marijuana). I was struck that every Democrat candidate either says they support stopping the raids or say they would look more into the issue, whereas, not so surprisingly, Republican candidates either say "Weed is the Antichrist" or don't consider it an important issue, except for Ron Paul of course. With the unity of the Democrats, I'm sniffing that stopping the raids is possibly a platform issue of the DNC. I predicted in the 2004 election it was politically impossible for a Democrat to get elected because of national security issues and now, especially with the midterm rebellion, I predict it's politically impossible for a Republican to get elected in 2008.

I remember hearing about this bill the last time it made its way through Congress and how for the past few years, every year it gets more votes, if I remember correctly. It's impossible to say with certainty but it certainly seems plausible that if a Democrat is elected that the bill may have a viable chance of success.

They never say much, but I believe they will support it
(I'm in Oregon, so they're already more educated on the subject).
