I have to confirm what BA and Raelum said. Anybody who is under 4'9" full grown, I believe, is considered a "little person." Now midget was the term that, in the past, referred to a little person who is completely proportional, only much smaller. However, midget has turned into a derogatory term and is insulting to any little person.

Dwarfism, is a medical condition known as Achondroplasia, or Hydrochondroplasia (Im going on memory, but I believe that is the correct spelling), depending on the severity. Achondroplasia being the least severe, and Hydro- being the most. There is also another step or two in between, I just cant remember. Dwarfs are characterized by an almost normal sized torso, a larger than normal head with an exaggerated forehead, and drastically diminished arms and legs. I actually have had a number of friends with dwarfism of all kinds. My one current friend Billy I went to school with has hydrochondroplasia, and was surprised when I actually told him what he had. We have been friends ever since.

Also, there are female dwarfs with large husbands. Their sex life is normal and healthy and they give birth to regular kids. Although, when one of the parents is a dwarf, there is a 50/50 chance that the child will also inherit dwarfism.
