what strain is what

so i was just wondering how to tell what strain is what, and how to tell apart things and whatnot, because i just use regular bag seeds and this is my first growing season... i did have a plant that i had going outdoors but it got riped off and it smelled WAY different from the others (like grapes) it was weird and now i have a seedling going inside and i was wondering how i can tell what strain it is and when i would be able to

You can't. Simple as that. Just enjoy the individuality of your plants and don't worry that they have fancy names. It doesn't make the smoke any better.

READ it :thumbsup: ... and, like Stinky Attic said, it's all about names, really ... ya got sativa, and ya got indica ... anything grown will be all in the family ... and, breeders and seedbanks have been known to re-name slow-selling strains, with fancier names, and sales are boosted ... so, take all the names with a grain of salt ... :smokin:

Don't call it something unless you KNOW FOR SURE what strain it is.
Medical patients count on the strains being correct, and if you screw that up, you're screwing it up for everyone.
Just call it 'mystery'

I'm old enough to remember when ya had to call it ANYTHING except 'homegrown', or you'd be laughed at

usually, aside from leaf thickness telling you sativa/ indica, you can't really tell much of a strain until you start it flowering. most plants that you'll get are more than likely a cross between multiple strains somewhere down the family line. here's a grow i'm working on and most of those plants have fatter leaves meaning more indica. there are a few that have very skinny fingered leaves. sativa = head high, indica = body high
like i said, it's probably a cross breed.
