"When all the broken hearted people living in the world agree, there will be an answer"

If it's not already too late.

People are putting out stupid ideas like spraying silver dioxide into our atmosphere. The dioxide acts like millions of tiny mirrors reflecting back the harmfull light.

Does anybody care what silver dioxide does to the enviroment or our bodies? Do we even know what it does? Seeing as many chemicals are deemed safe by our standards before they are even properly tested i'm not sure.

i believe in global warming and global cooling and global deterioration etc. etc. etc.

what i don't believe in is the sort of scare tactics and misinformation used by has-beens like gore and company to dupe the gullible into believing that it's all their fault and unless we do something right now we are all doomed. this globe has been heating up and cooling down for a long long time and no bunch of half-wit yahoos is gonna force me to change from the sort of low impact life style i've lived for all of my adult life. this entire dust-up over the immediacy of global warming is nothing more than something too occupy the off hours for bored cause heads and ignorant schoolgirls and a way to gain air-time for a few publicity hungry pseudo intellectuals.

have i made any enemies today? you betcha.

When I was a kid (a scant decade ago), tornadoes were something that happened in the Wizard of Oz. Now they're a weekly threat in our area. Something big is happening to our environment. I'm not too worried about the Earth - the Earth has survived much more catastrophic events than this. But life on Earth? It's probably going to be temporarily fucked. Mother Nature is pretty good at coming along and clearing the decks every once in a while. Humans have had a pretty good run.

I know that sounds harsh. Am I happy that we're going down the drain? Not really. Can I change the very probable eventuality that it's going to happen? Not at all. It's time for something else to take the podium; rats and cockroaches, all those small hardy species. It's kind of interesting to imagine how they'll adapt and possibly evolve. Who knows, maybe in a few million years the rats will be the ones experimenting on us!

I'm also interested in what the possible motivations for those interested in going green are. I've heard the anti-global warming people say that it's a big scam - what's the problem with a scam that conserves natural resources and cuts down on the obliteration of nature? I'd be interested in hearing the other side of the story.

what's at stake is power through control. the cause heads and school girls are merely along for the ride, but for those behind the scare tactics there is power to be had. once the blame has been placed firmly on consumers for this ongoing global catastrophe, the stage is set for the implementation of more laws and regulations to further restrict the freedoms of the populace. the money to be made through fees and overpriced green products is secondary to the power we would be handing over. freely making the choice to live a low impact lifestyle should of course be encouraged, but being forced into those choices is just another small tyranny on top of all the other little tyrannies.

the very idea that people should be forced to do something just because it is good for them is antithetical to the concept of personal freedom.
