No, you definitely should get two exhales. If you're only going to get only one lungful of smoke, what's the point in wasting time to pause halfway into your hit? The point of puff-puff-give is to ensure that you get two lungfuls, not just one. The point isn't to force everybody to pause for no reason in the middle of what could be one long hit.

What I consider it to mean is you take two full inhales and two full exhales. I've been in circles with others that only take 1 full inhale, but pause half way through, then puff again as part of just one inhale. So 2 inhales and 1 exhale. Rating: 5

Well, take as much as you can take in one toke. If you're going to pause anyways, why not exhale during the pause so you can get more on the second inhale?

i usually do two inhales and one exhale.
for me, it is just kinda the way i smoke out of a pipe no matter what the situation is.
with the people that i've smoked out of bongs with, it is usually just like, clear one easy going hit, and pass it.

if its a bong. 1 fat rip then pass it...or in my case pack another cuz i just downed the whole bowl. if its a spoon pipe just take one rip and pass it. if the rip wasnt very big u can take another. if its a joint or blunt take 2 or 3 hits (inhale and exhale). going by those guidelines never makes anyone mad.

when me and my bro (my bro and I??) use to smoke a blunt we would just camp on it abit then pass it and let the other camp on it.......more hits at a faster pase gets you higher........try it sometime when ur chilling with one other person.........don't camp too long tho or u'll kill ur blunt

for me an my pals the puff puff pass is two complete rips(in and out) the reason for this is... in a small circle (2-3 ppl) the joint comes back before your done chokin on the last rip.puff puff pass gives you time to recover while your buddies toke it up.

it really depends on who and where. with some people (usually really good friends or when you're sparking your own) it's cool to chief on it for 5+, but with others you notice the whole circle taking only one hit and you don't wanna be an asshole so you too only take one.

also if it's a bong or a bowl we take one and pass. besides it's not a competition, unless you make it one .
