bonbon, (or anyone who is interested) HELP
I started seeds in rock wool cubes, I already asked you questions about them. The plants really looked good for awhile but I think that they got root rot. The water was really yucky and I had to clean out the system almost every night cause it was clogging with this yucky stuff and the roots smelled bad too. The ph went up high every night. Well, I finally took them out, but I did get clones from them before they were so bad. Now it looks like the clones have root rot. They are real yucky now too. I flushed them out with ph 5.5 water with hydroguard and salt leaching solution. Does this sound like root rot? If it is, what can I do and can it be stopped? Is there a special way to start seeds in hydro? Thanks for your help. Willow

Root rot? I am not sure... for clones to have root rot sounds ..... sounds unlikely..
I have seen clone sit in rockwool cubes with black roots coming out everywhere.... for months... no rot.... the tips die... but the clones can live like that for a long long time
Is your water circulating? what type of hydro system do you have...? do you let your rockwool dry? or at least come close to drying? what kind of lights? hps lights should help dry out the cubes enough..
can you post a pick?
sorry about your circumstance... sad : (
let me think someMORE......
uh....mm... distilled water is always good to leach you babies with...
airstones are good if you have poor circulation... I think your system might be bunk or you are over watering... PIctures.. I need pictures : )

bonbon, (or anyone who is interested) HELP
It sounds like root rot to me, I had a similar problem with my DWC system. I discovered I had too high of nutrient concentration levels, I was around 1200ppm, should have been 350ppm, I corrected that problem, and for the roots I made a 10% hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) solution that is: 100ml of 3% H2O2 mixed with 1 Liter of distilled water. The 3% H2O2 is what you will find at walmart, walgreens, etc. for cleanig your cuts or whatever, but NOT the hair bleaching kind, as it is a higher concentration. Anyway use the solution in a spray bottle and mist the roots and the rockwool with it, it will kill the rot, and will eat up the rotten junk, then after 15 minutes or so I spray the roots with plain distilled water and put them into a freshly sterilized system with new water(distilled) and nutes. Do not forget to clean the hydro pebbles, everything must be sterile! Do this every time you change nutes.
I had the same problem, and this has worked very well for me, currently the plants that had the rot are 4 1/2 weeks old and 12' to 14' tall and very healthy.
You can also add H2O2 to the water in your system, it will help keep the rot in check and allow your plants to recover, I also agree with Garden Knowm on all counts, post pics, what type of hydro system is it? and most of all add an airstone to the rez, plants love oxygenated water, algae hates it, and it keeps things mixed up.
PS. do you have a PPM tester? If so, what is the PPM? And how old are the plants? This info would help us to help you.
Hope this helps
L0rdsOthI need to think of something clever to put here...

Do you use an air pump with air stones in your tank?
clean out everything with a water and clorox solution, washing it off , once its clean , with fresh water. Try to keep the light off the rock wool and the water to help prevent
the slime from growing on it, i hope this helps.
