Hey Buzz - I do a lot of cloning and sometimes I just stick the cutting in a cup with coco and they root about 85% of the time. However, I always use rooting hormone. I have no idea what the fuck it does, I just use it, cuz that's how Stinky Attic's cloning instructions said to do things.

Here's a couple of things I like to keep in mind when cloning. 1) the whole idea behind cloning is that, if you keep the cutting alive long enough, sooner or later it will grow roots. 2) Since the plant has no roots, it is meaningless to keep your medium wet because the cutting can't do anything with the water. The only thing a lot of water (like you have in your pots) will do is rot the stem. Paying particular attention to #2 will eliminate most clone problems and most clone failures.

How old are your cuttings?

You shouldn't have two cuttings in one pot, but it doesn't really matter because as wet as you have that medium, I'd give them about 4-5 days before the stem rots. You're looking for moist, not wet. You really need to get those stems in a dryer environment. Personally, I'd put them into a smaller container with superb drainage then just mist the soil around the stem to keep it moist. That ever elusive "moist" is easier to reach with a mister and dry soil.

Keep them covered with your humidity domes and don't be afraid to liberally mist the foliage as often as you feel like it. I use 1/4 strength Clonex & Superthrive in my foliar spray.

Expect the cuttings to "eat" the fan leaves. They need to get nutrition from somewhere.

Lastly, once your clones have rooted, they will start revegging. (I see trichs on some of the cuttings. Were they all in flower?) So, expect to see some crazy looking leaves when the re-vegging takes place.

I've used several kinds of rooting hormone. The inexpensive "Green Light Rooting Hormone" powder I bought from Lowe's works just as well as the $25 stuff I bought at the hydro store.

Good luck with your clones!

PharmaCan Reviewed by PharmaCan on . My Little Clones Hey guys, just wanted your opinions on these clones i got going here, it's my first time cloning you see. I topped a couple when i took them. Rooted them in soil, no rooting hormone, in the pots they're in now. Are they looking ok? cheers  Rating: 5
