Hi im Colster i need help plz

Hi all, i was wondering if any of you could help with my problem that i have encountered. Im growing in a very small area, a pc tower !! so i have to use DWC. I took my time to make sure everything was rite ph, ppm, air vents fans, air pump, light, and about 4 weeks into my grow my plants just stopped growing then my tanks started going green, like algea growing so i cleened my tank for the second time that week and the roots just started breaking!! meaning broken roots dead plants? i think so! i pulled my plants out very upset and bleached the whole area and containers to start over. but before the roots started to break some of the leaves in the mid section started to get like orangy brown patches on them and go yellow, o would have thought this was a nutrient problem or ph, does algea block roots from taking nutes ? and also i boil my water and let it stand for 24 hours before i use it, am i wrong in doing this ?
if anyone can help i will be most greatfull, i have grown before and done ok but seems i need some pro help this time

yes if light can reach your water in the tanks(any kind) it will promote algae growth.

I'm a soil guy also, but that sounds like that may be it. As far as the leaves go....I'm not sure.
