ever just been watching tv stoned out of your gord and all the sudden noticed subliminal messages in a commercial or show that you know you've probably seen before when you weren't high?

i've seen crazy shit in a tampax commercial and dont get me started on some nick jr. :stoned:

interestingly enough, i found something the other day that is kind of along those same lines.

one of my fave movies as a kid was "the secret of nimh", so when i went to my parents' house last weekend and saw that we had the dvd, i got really excited and brought it back with me when i came back up to my apartment. i smoked a bit, and watched the first 20 mins or so (then i got distracted, and so i'll have to finish watching it later, because i started doing something else). as the movie started, i looked it up on imdb, as i tend to do with a lot of movies, and what i found on imdb and in the movie truly surprised me.

long story short, on the surface, the movie is just about a little mouse who is trying to save her sick son because she is unable to move him on plow day. she goes to great lengths to save her son - but to do this, she must get help from the rats that live under the rose bush. these rats are rats from nimh.

nimh = national institute for mental health

(at least in the movie)

i never knew that. ever. only one time in the whole movie do they ever say that - within the first 20 mins or so, and it is just casually mentioned when a farmer and his wife are talking at the end of the day, as they are getting into bed.

"honey, the people from nimh called today"
"nimh?"
"the national institute of mental health"
"what did they want?"
"they wanted to know if the rats on the farm have been acting strange"

the convo goes something like that. apparently the rats were tested at nimh, and the testing gave them special abilities blah blah blah it gets somewhat fanciful with that part, but wow. the movie is called 'the secret of nimh' and seriously, i never fucking knew what that meant. there is a special amulet in the movie, and i always thought that the name of the movie had something to do with that. this is the first time i've watched the movie since i was a kid, and since i haven't finished it yet, maybe there is another reference to it being the national institute of mental health. maybe, maybe not. but regardless of whether or not there is, wow. as a child i never picked up on that. i dunno, but to me it's just so trip that this supposedly innocent movie about a sweet mouse trying to save her son has underlying things about a national institute of mental health and things about testing animals. wow, this just makes me really think.

sorry, i know this post probably doesn't make sense (i'm not even high lol), but it's just hard for me to get my thoughts out about this and try to explain it in a way that makes sense to people who may or may not seen the movie.
