    Freak Accident...

NextLine - it hadnt recived that much abuse, it was 4 or 5 years old probably but there were no (visable) cracks prior to this. It had just been used as a table. Nobody ever fell into it or anything like that.

Slip - Thats another good possibility i guess, there is alot of activity in the sky (its nyc for christsake) and i guess a small bolt or something could have fallen and broke it. the only thing is we had the umbrella open and i didnt have a chance to double check it yet but there would have to be a tear, also the house would have blocked anything falling from and angle on one side.

i knew i shouldnt have but we cleaned everything up right away and not to mention it was garbage day so that bag of glass is long gone, theres no way we could find out if there was anything out of the ordinary in the debris.

that same thing happen to me but with my lazy boy
back in "82 it was a Sunday or maybe a Monday??
I was just sitting in it one night and it just exploded!

My first thought was a sniper too! (we get alot of those here!) Theres alot of trees behind me that a sniper could possibly hide...but I was indoors (are there indoor snipers?)

I guess these are just life's unexplined mysteries that we may never know...

It didn't have to have had a visible crack or anything, Metaphor. Just some undectectable, invisible weak spot was all it took. Glass is wacky that way.

Cutting glass, like for window panes, mirrors, table panels, or stained glass is essentially a matter of controlling the fracture process in a precise way by breaking (scoring) the surface tension evenly and then helping it break along that score line. Wish you lived near me. I'd cut you a new panel for that table out of some tempered glass that'd be a little more resilient.

I love it when you talk technical (like the professor from Gillians's Island) it makes me HOT!

I wish you lived by me too! I'd break all the glass in my house!

thanks birdgirl. So what your saying is it was basicly random and totally unavoidable. It was just some pressure points that decided to give in??

thats really fucked up. do you think i would be able to sue the company that manufactures the table??... me nd my boys are 'emotionally scarred'
