Freak Accident...
One of the wierdest things i have ever witnessed in my life happened aprox 10:30 pm on Friday July 13th 2007.
ill fast foward to this evening where this event took place. An average friday night, chillen in my yard with a few of my smokin buddies. We had just finished our first blunt nd our burgers we cooked on my grill. After chillin for a little while talkin nd smokin ciggs we decide to roll a joint. I come in my crib and grab some buds nd papers then go outside, my friends break up the bud and then i procede to roll this joint. (on a side note it was probably a gram of weed, half haze & half regs, we call it beef nd broccoli and the joint came out nice as ever. a great joint)
*Flick your bic*
About 3/4 of the way through the joint it happened all of a sudden. We hear a loud crash and the glass top table we were sitting around shattered into a hunded million pieces. The closest thing to spontaneous combustion ive ever seen. None of us were touching the table. we were leaning back in our seats passing around this jay. Nobody was taking anything off or putting anything down on the table. There was nothing hot nor nothing cold (the coldest thing was a glass of beer with ice). Nothing out of the ordinary was going on. The only items on the table were paper plates with a little food. Some bottles of bbq sauce, a couple cans o soda and beer. The only other items were my ipod w/ speakers and cell phone.
We have no idea what the fuck happened but we came up with a list of possibilities. (keep in mind we were pretty zooted)
- Someone shot it. either as a prank, just to scare us or a warning. A bbgun or low caliber handgun or rifle would have done the trick. Theres alot of trees behind me that a sniper could possibly hide
- A Ghost. I dont believe in ghosts whatsoever and ive never had any previous experiences that could be considered 'paranormal' but this is the closest thing.
- My Cell Phone sent out some sort of EMP or other type of shockwave that shattered the glass. Possibly some high frequency we (as humans) couldnt hear.
- Friday the 13 bad luck. Plain and simple. and im not supersticious in the slightest. (just the other day i was playin with an umbrella inside (honestly))
- A Note in the music could have possibly shattered the glass. I normaly listen to alot of psychedelic music and wouldnt be surprised in the slightest if there were modified sounds and frequncys in the music. possibly some attempt at subliminal messaging. I looked at my ipod and the song that was playin was Even In His Youth by Nirvana.
I am totally bugged out and have no idea what the fuck happend. i took alot of pictures of the damaga and it shows all the items that crashed through (except my ipod and phone because i checked if they were okay right away.
Sorry for the long ass post but i can really only express puzzlement. if anyone has any hunches as to what went wrong please let me know. any helps appreciated.Metaphor Reviewed by Metaphor on . sometimes things just happen...not everything is for a reason...maybe the table was just tired of being a table....either way, freaky man...better you than me....

That is weird! Maybe there were hairline cracks, or some other defects, in the glass and for some reason an item on the table was the straw that broke the camel's back. It would be expensive, but a lab could probably do an analysis of the glass and see if anything turns up - and possibly nothing will. Maybe ask a glazier if he ever heard of this happening. They'd be the most likely to know something about it.

Yeah, I'd have to go with BA on that assesssment. It's strange and must have been scary. But glass is an imperfect substance. I learned this from a good many years of crafting stained glass. It has weak spots and little imperceptible differences in its surface strength and stability. The glass in that table had some miniscule break in its surface tension someplace and something, even just a slight shift of one table leg, an acorn falling from a tree, or even a couple of degrees of temperature change was all it needed to set off the fracture process.
We had the same thing happen to a glass panel in a balcony door one year as an evening chill was settling in. The temperature changed a couple of degrees, perhaps the house settled a tad, and zippity-crick, the panel was in a thousand little pieces all over a bedroom floor. The black plastic garbage bags we duct-taped up to cover the hole were ever-so-lovely, too.\"That best portion of a good man\'s life: his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and love.\"

another remote possibility is like a small meteor or something simliar falling from the sky... do you get alot of planes/choppers over head? maybe a peice of an aircraft (small peice of course) fell off... if yal weren't really paying attention i doubt you'd of seen it....

I think that the roof on the house would probably stop falling objects from the sky and f it made it through, thye would prolly notice.

Im going to go with compromised durability
how much abuse had it recieved in the past?
Maybe the glass of ice did it. If you heat then chill out glass it shatters very easily
