    curing in the refrigerator

i was wondering if you could cure your buds after you dry them by placing them in the refrigerator? they would also follow the traditional glass jar method the only difference would be the refrigerator. is there any positive to this or negative? thank you

You mean, put the plain buds in the refrigerator without any jar or anything covering it???

Why? They'll retain water for a lot longer.

Yea they will also most likely mold. In short, no, you can't do that. The only way you could cure in the fridge, is if you had them in air tight jars, then you would still have to open them every day until they cured, and...well, what's the point.

One time I heard, on the Dopecast (Awesome Podcast, btw), that when you put it in the fridge, it's like putting roses in the fridge. When they harvest a bunch of roses, and then refridgerate them, they stay alive until "rose season" or Valentines or whatever, but then when you buy them, they are wilted and dead in one day.

I think this has something to do with molecular breakdown while in the frozen or cold state, but I'm not positive. Maybe stinky will be able to clarify what I'm talking about.

    Just go get some jars....OR....

READ THIS THREAD for more options.

Aren't you glad I kept that page bookmarked?!

Here is a pic of the jar and buds. The jar is a Millwaukee pickle jar. I filled the jar with water and turned it upside down to see if there were any leaks. none. Then emptied the water dried the glass and filled with buds. I was asking this because dont ciggerrett (cant spell) smokers store their ciggs in the fridge to stay fresh and taste better? Also what would be the difference between fridge and frezzer storage? Ido valu your opinion and yove helped me out before thanks.

    curing in the refrigerator

Hey, man. Well, if you have airtight jars, it's really unnecessary to put them in the fridge. I mean, you CAN, but I wouldn't. If I had that bud...I would keep it in the jars, cure it for a couple weeks (following a good curing method), and then I would make sure I kept it in a cool (not cold), DRY place...maybe even a cigar box until I smoked it.

Did you read that thread I linked up there????? You should.

By the way, nice bud man. You don't smoke much? It seems to me like you plan to have that weed for a LONG time. haha. Unlike cigarettes, MJ gets better and better over time if kept in appropriate conditions. More like wine than cigarettes.

    curing in the refrigerator

Wouldnt the cold slow the curing process? (thinking back to elementary science) When something is cold its molecules compact and slow down, when warm they expand and move faster.
Fridge seems like a bad idea to me, though I could be wrong.

Tobacco has already been cured and dried before you buy it and put it in the fridge.
