A tent would be good - but you can't lock a tent. Take a look at HydroHuts - they're pretty cool.

The thing about the kids is, you need to vent your grow and that means fans and fans mean noise and once one kid hears that noise you know darn well you will get no peace until they are satisfied that they know what the noise is. So probably you should consider having a grow inside a room and just keeping the room secure.

...and maybe even a diversionary source of noise - something that you would be glad to spend hour upon boring hour explaining to the kids in excrutiatingly boring detail... you get the idea
