Electricity help?

My planned growroom hasnt got any plug sockets in it which is abit of a bummer so im wondering can i do anything with these wires that are in the room? They are for my boiler 1 is a thermostat and 1 is for the fuse thingy im thinking its abit dodgy so can anyone on the forum tell me if its possible? if not then what would you reccommend.

The box on the left is a fused spur!! With basic electrical Knowledge you could run a few sockets off of it no problem!Check the main fuse board then u will know the maximum to use safely!

i reckon i could do it im quite good at diy. Just checked my fuse box and im guessing the fuse for the boiler is the one labeleled water heater and its 16 amp is it going to be possible to do the job i want?

Depends how many lights,fans,heaters etc u gonna have but 16 amps is a lot im not a sparky so
google it.u will find someting to tell you how many watts u can run off 16amps
I know u just run loops of cable to each socket n then back to fuseboard,it is easy!

It's easy if you know what you are doing; dangerous if you don't.

What is really important here is the size of the wires that go from your main breaker box to your room. The wire size is going to determine how much current they can carry which determines how much load they can handle. On the breaker box side, you can use a bigger fuse or install a larger circuit breaker - if the wires are big enough to carry a heavier load.

If you want to continue to use your water heater, you probably want a small sub-panel in your grow room. That would be the best way to distribute the load.

But you need a qualified electrician to look at your place and tell you if it is even feasible. If it is, it isn't really that much work and shouldn't really cost a whole lot.

when i did it in my close lastyear i just ran 1 of those heavy duty extentioncoreds pluginto a surgeprotecter with alot fo sockets for fan and hps ect i still do that now

I currently run a regular outdoor extension cord and a surge protector to power my at least 200W grow op and it works fine. I presume you will be using much larger lights?

in the us we have 120 volt outlets .... so you take the amps x volts. I multiply the amperage by 100....that just allows a little safety/headroom and its easier to do the math in your head .... so a 15amp breaker can handle 1500 watts

quite honestly man I wouldn't mess with a DIY project unless you truly know what you're doing or have a professional do it.....this is nothing a long extension chord cant fix
