Potential HIV cure in the future?

    http://www.dancewithshadows.com/busi...ure-enzyme.asp

This is a couple weeks old but here's the article. Basically scientists were able to create an enzyme that can remove HIV from cells.

Very interesting article about a wonderfully hopeful new discovery.

One bit of clarification, though, on what you said. Subtle but important.

That article said the engineered Tre enzyme has proven to cut the HIV1 virus out of cells in vitro (literally means "in glass" = in a test tube/petri dish). So right now, the only conclusion anyone can draw is that it may help remove HIV from human cells in vivo ("in life") down the road. That's apparently still a long way away.

Ya, I remember they mentioned that in the article but I didn't understand the difference. I thought it meant that it would work in people and they were testing how safe it was.

Let us hope for the best that this research could in fact be the newest thing to treat millions of dying HIV/AIDS sufferers. Interesting article by the way.
