tips curling under / two weeks old / drip hydro
Hey
I'm closet growing, using a drip system, and havent used any nutrients for the first 13 days. just pH 5.7/5.8 water
I had been watering 3 times a day for 15 min. I just changed it to 8 times a day for 5 min.
I have a 125 watt full spectrum cfl and a 40 watt full spectrum tube light
the leaves started to curl under at about day 10 and the roots had just outgrew the 4" rockwool and I put them in 1 liter mesh bottom potting planters in hydroton.
I changed the resivour on day 13 and added a very light nutrient solution of "Hesi Hyrdo Growth" (about 150ml in a 10 gal res). I also just added super thrive (about 10 drops)
does all of that sound ok? do I need anything else? anyone have any guesses as to the leaves curling under?spectrum balanced Reviewed by spectrum balanced on . tips curling under / two weeks old / drip hydro Hey I'm closet growing, using a drip system, and havent used any nutrients for the first 13 days. just pH 5.7/5.8 water I had been watering 3 times a day for 15 min. What's the temps in your grow room? Could it be heat related?

I think so, I dont have a ventilation system yet. during the day the door open there are two fans (one really high up blowing outwards as a ghetto make shift vent fan) and one ocilating on the plants. For the last two hours I have to shut the door. I plan on installing a ventelation system, but I have to buy another door to tare up.
I will say, I could'nt afford a ballest to go with the 125w grow light, and had been putting mylar over the top to create more reflection and I think it could have also been causing even more of a heat problem. I just stopped doing that and it kind of looks like they bounced back a little.
I'll post pictures tonight.
thanks WH.

Yes I just switched my lighting situation around a little myself and discovered that mylar can REALLY kick up the heat. If it is heat issue and you've corrected it the new growth should look good....the curled stuff will probably just stay pretty much like that. Mine did.

ah shit! good to know!
I have three good sized plants that are just over two weeks old, one of them though (seemingly the most promising) is quite a bit shorter than the other two, though it has just about as much foliage. It seems to be in the best shape and the tallest was in the worst shape. So I think thats got to be it.

K one more question,
as you can probably see by the labels, I thought they were sativa's because the I got the seeds from just some really good "schwag". Although, despite being schwag the weed was super green, a sweet aroma and full of orange hair. my question is, the foliage looks all wide and (as of now, to my "untrained eye") looks similar to other people indica's I've looked at on the board. I have "Easy Sativa" (its a 60/40 sativa/indica) growing as well and the first real leaves definately look a lot more slinder than my bag seedlings did when they were the same size. you have any guesses as to whether it's indica or sativa?

Those leaves look indica to me....couldn't say for sure but they are nice and wide. Most commercial strains are indica these days (or mostly so....mixes really to create the strain ) because they tend to finish faster with a better yield which translates into more $$$ for the commercial grower.
