I don't believe there is any direct mention of cannabis in the bible, people are always interpreting it differently which is why it is best to think for yourself.

Think of it like this, there are lots of drugs which society seems classify differently but in the end they are drugs.
Caffeine, alcohol, tylenol, aspirin, cannabis, nicotine are all drugs. Tylenol is considered perfectly acceptable for medicinal use since it doesn't get you high...it is hepatoxic however. Alcohol gets you way more altered than cannabis, for some reason people don't consider this drug even though it obviously is and the consequences resulting from its use can be far greater than with many other drugs. Nicotine is a poison, it is used as a pesticide and is more addictive than heroin, it will produce a noticable 'buzz' in first time smokers and at high doses such as with uncured tops of tobacco plants can produce hallucinations, coma and even death. Ironically its even sold at walmart and in many states although you must be 18 to purchase tobacco products possession by a minor holds no penalties.
Caffeine is my favorite example, it is a central nervous system stimulant found in many beverages and available to anybody of any age. People who consume enough of it will reportedly feel 'different', it definately alters consciousness and has been shown to be addictive with physical withdrawal symptoms. Your average cup of coffee contains over 800 chemicals many of which are neurotoxins and carcinogens.
Thousands of people die of overdoses from these legal drugs every year while not a single person has ever died from using marijuana, it is virtually non-toxic and has been shown to have many health benefits, side effects include hunger.
What I am saying here is who cares what the bible or society for that matter thinks about cannabis...the entire system or classification of 'acceptable' substances from 'unacceptable' substances is complete bullshit to begin with.
