I've had the Granddaddy Purp a couple times in the past couple of months, never more than $80/eighth though. IMO, the Urkle beats the pants off the Granddaddy anyway.

Grandaddy Purple = Purple Urkle x Big Bud

So right off the bat, GDP is going to yield more, taste less, and give a less potent high. Still a damn good strain though, just not on the level of the Urk.

yeah i got to try both granddaddy purp and purp urkle when i was n san fran and the purp urkle was much better in the high and taste category...but the price wow...we got it thru a dispensary, and the urkle we got for 60 an 8th, and the gdp was only 40 for an 8th...pretty good prices for a canna club though...we also got a half o of sour d for 200 and a q of silver haze for 90

When the trichomes are starting to show a little amber. It's strain dependent.
