600 sounds very good....rhyizome and everyone is right about the yield. And Rhizome makes a very good point as well about HID lights....they can blow your plants away if you aren't careful.....I've melted several seedlings in my day....(and overwatered them....and overnuted.....and ....)

i think u'd have a better shot if u got more cfls right now, and surround them if ur budget is tite.
very little invested in my room so far, maybe grand total of 400 for every single thing i did so far in my grow log.
    including the construction.
cfl's definately do 'ok' from what ive seen around here.
gimme a couple weeks and i'll comment on cfl's and flowering.

Good Luck with the grow, ill be watching this one.

    Rock.

just an after thought, but u coulda put something (box, cd's, etc) under the short one to bring it closer so it wouldnt stretch so much.

Well i went to my local store, and picked up a 150 HPS!. Doesn't have the best housing but light output is good.

I re-setup everything and constructed a new area with the new addition of the hps. I also picked up a 85 watt CFL (actuall wattage). I have to get a fixture for it first.

    here is the new pictures!

Ebsters that's gorgeous! Good work! Keep a careful eye on your heat now until your plant gets used to that blast of new bright light.

the lamp does get quite a bitter hotter than any of the other blubs i have, but thats to be expected.

heat isn't much of a issue right now. I have 2 fans one intake and one exhaust. you cannot see them in the pictures.

i think i have enough light after i also install the 85watt cfl, True watts.

temps have been staying in the upper 70's so far.

i think this new light setup is going to work pretty well, cause i have the flor's tubes following up the plant now. and my bright lights up top, then on the other side are the cfl's 30watt spot light from the other side. I don't think there is any leaf now that doesn't get lots of light. Hopefully they will start to TAKE off with the extra light.

any advice to how it all setup?, all lights are on timers, set for the same time, 2 fans, 120mm pc intake, 120pc exhaust (about 260cfm)
help me make my area better :-)

Sounds like you have things under control.....your plants are going to LOVE that new light. That should be plenty for everyone you have there.

In flowering lighting is pretty much your ticket. It's not AS critical in veg although more always helps you know? but when flowering you just aren't going to get a good yield without it no matter how much other work you put in so it pays to get the extra light for sure during blooming.

Give us some pics in a few days with the new light so we can compare...

You might want to upgrade in stages- go for the better gear, and when that's performing well for you, go for the good beans. If I'd been paying $5-10 for every seed I killed in the first few runs... I don't know what that would've cost. Bag seed handled well can be remarkabley good.

Tangental side point- Princess, the individual that c99 was brought up from, was a bag seed.

There's a learning experiance involved in your first HID run- it's differant from flo's. Hotter, faster- stuff can go wrong pretty quick. If you have access to bag seed, play w/ it- what the hell, it's already paid for...
