1st Log, closet grow

I just signed up for this site, i have been reading for about a month now. A lot of useful info on here.

So i decided to get started on a grow.

Here is my setup.
Lighting
1 4 ft T12 light with 40 watt bulbs (2 bulbs)
1 4 ft T8 light with 38 watt bulbs (2bulbs)
2 30 watt CFL(120w equv)

Fans
2 80mm pc fans to keep keeps down below 80 degrees

My grow space is about 5ft long 4ft tall and 2 ft deep and in a closet.

Veged the plants till they got to the 5th node, then switched over to 12/12 lighting.

So here is the picture as of today, i have 2 plants both female, one is has showed signs of being a hermie its the plant that was topped. I am on 16 days of flowering.

i am useing mg, 15/30/15 nutes, and distilled water.

You need more light closer to them to get some decent bud growing.

the plants are about 1-2 inchs from the tops of the t12 unit.

The t8 assembly was added today, so more leaves and future bud sites can get light. But due to the size difference in the plants, i am just gonna leave them alone for now, and let them grow to the light. for the areas which are not close.

I say in 2-3 more days they will both need to be raised another inch or so, when both plants reach the light. and MY untopped plant will be up in the light by then more than likely.

they sure are growing fast now though.

More what i mean is that you need more watts.....more lumens.....maybe what I mean is BETTER lights...

I know i need more lights, but this is going to have to do for awhile, as i don't wanna spend to much cash on these guys. I figured i would start here and see what i end up with. Then for my next one use really good genes, and a hps light...

I am sure with my light output i can get some buds, maybe not huge yields but enough to toke for a little bit.

Ok as long as you realize that with that kind of lighting your yield will be very, very poor. The only reason I mention it is that you are doing alot of work here and it would be nice if you ended up with some smokable weed.

Sounds like your next grow is going to be bigger and better.....good luck.

well, i want to see the difference in yeild with lighting if you know what I mean. Plus the genetics i am growing right now are from a bag seed, so i really don't want to invest in a whole lot, i just would like to get the basic's, then step up to the good plants, and really good lighting. So i don't try and start with good plants, and mess something up.

My next grow will hopefully be the holy grail for a awhile. My next grow if everything goes ok on this one, will be duel 600 watt hps, and 3 gallon soil pots. And 10 felmale seeds of blueberry crossed with northern lights.

I just need test time to find out what works and all the different methods. Which is why i topped one plant and didn't top the other to see the difference in yeild, and growing characteristics.

So instead of reading on here for months before starting my first grown, i jumped in and started growing, with with the help of people on here and reading, i should be able to come up with a product in the end which is worthy of tokin to. ANY advice is highly welcome. I can for one say though, i WANT to grow, the dank nuggets, and smoke only the best. Best part about it is that i will not have to relay on flakky sources.

Weed hound i have seen alot of your posts on here and i value your opinion. I may not be as experianced as you, but i hope my learning curve comes on fast, so we can both be enjoyin killer buds! :jointsmile:

but how much do you think i could possibly yeild from this lighting? given the size of my plants.

Maybe a couple of joints if your lucky!!no offence but my mate had a setup like that and the yield was very poor!!

Just a thought- you could up the yeild a lot by repotting at an angle, so the plants are more paralell to the shoplights. Still won't be much, but it'll be more.

You might want to upgrade in stages- go for the better gear, and when that's performing well for you, go for the good beans. If I'd been paying $5-10 for every seed I killed in the first few runs... I don't know what that would've cost. Bag seed handled well can be remarkabley good.

Tangental side point- Princess, the individual that c99 was brought up from, was a bag seed.

There's a learning experiance involved in your first HID run- it's differant from flo's. Hotter, faster- stuff can go wrong pretty quick. If you have access to bag seed, play w/ it- what the hell, it's already paid for...
