i guess that makes me paranoid too. i would rather drive the 2 hrs to the hydro store than have it mailed to my house. but since we have friends there it isnt like im making a specific trip just for that.

Operation Green Merchant was back in the eighties, and was widely unpopular. Nobody in government wants a repeat of that.

Vietnam was back in the 60's and 70's, and was even more unpopular.

Seems like we're repeating that, too.

We're not quite repeating Vietnam. Although both wars have a lot in common, the major difference is that with Iraq, there is no draft. Only the poor souls who voluntarily enlist have to go over there.

But if you read that article I linked, it says a cautious hydroponics store owner contacted his congressman who told him there isn't a desire for a repeat of that. I would imagine that's true, since the overall trend since then has been toward leniency and decriminalization.
