While grinding does burn faster (could just not grid it as much) it also gives you kif which can give you hash and hash rock. That is the only reason i use a grinder.

Also, does grinding up your weed allow you to pack more bowls or fewer? I realize grinded up weed burns smoothly and faster, I just wanna straighten out any misconceptions I have on grinded up weed.
