haha, CannabisCambel you reminded me of yet another weed claim I've yet to find any research on. I once heard DARE say that it greatly inhibits your body's healing mechanisms. Does it even do that at all?

I think it lowers ur immune system for a little bit. Sometimes i feel a little sick when i smoke a lot but that just might be burnout. Also sometimes i start to sneeze after smoking a lot but that might just be placebo because i heard people talking about that. I'd love to hear the science o it.

I suspect that that claim comes from the fact that cannabis is taken in by smoking, but cigarettes are a much worse problem for inhibiting healing.

Smoking does a number of things to people's hearts, lungs and vascular systems, as you know. Both cigarette and cannbis smoke present a temporary challenge to the lungs' ability to take in oxygen, which is why the heart speeds up (trying to get more oxygen transported since the smoker is inhaling smoke instead of clear air) and why, at first before the active ingredients kick in, blood vessels constrict.

That constriction occurs even at the smallest vascular level, the capillaries. And for healing of a wound to take place, capillaries must branch out and find each other, knitting/mending themselves together to bring the tissues back together. So that is where that claim probably comes from. Smoking of any kind impedes that capillary-mending process.

My hunch is that cannabis isn't nearly as big a detriment to healing as tobacco. Nicotine downright halts that capillary-mending process for a time. Which is why surgeons who're scheduling people for elective surgery will insist that people stop smoking cigarettes, ideally for a minimum of three weeks beforehand.

I find healing is a bit quicker and pain alot less hindering when I smoke and concentrate or meditate on healing, I have said before here on Canny I have been in pain to the point of ardennalin and shock hitting the body and if it wernt for the fact that I was blazed out of my mind I am sure I would have had a stroke or hart attack from the shock alone. the other day we were laying concreat and I did some stupid shit and saved this guy from going to the hospital but my forarm was impaled buy a thick wire about 6mm thick, went clean through my arm and my arm is about 12in. cercumferance, the force was enough to pull me off balance for a second. I felt no pain no shock and most of all no adrenalin, bleading was very little. I walked in to the ER, drove my self there the doctor saw me and said well give you somthing for the pain when I said what pain he thought I was full of shit then, after refusing something for pain he said we got to pull the wire out. He brought in the exact same wire cutters we were using with the concreat (I thought doctors had special tools). He cut the wire at the top and pulled, he was pulling with enough force he had to put his knee on my chest and arm and pull, I felt pain but the doctor said with no pain medication I should have been sreaming, I told him I get kindey stones and dont take pain medication(with exception of Ibprofan for the swelling not the pain, it does not help extrem pain) for even the extreme episodes (longest was 3 months), He still does not belive me cause I saw him checking me over for needle markes, Fact of the matter is I dont recomend dooing this because like I said before you might die, but I figure Navy SEALS drown them selves to know what it feals like and more to know not to panic and continue on by saving your self and your team if need. I am in no way a SEAL or and thing extrodanairy but if you know what it feals like to feel the most intense pain then you know what to expect, Shock will kill a person even when their is nothing wrong with them, your mind has the power to kill you and heal you.

If cannabis is ingested it doesn't have any effect on the immune system as far as I've read/heard/experienced.

However if smoked it can have a substatial effect on the immune system in some people if they smoke often, this isn't because of the drug itself, it's because of the actual smoke.

However people who participate in regular excercise, eat healthy, live a healthy lifestlye and smoke cannabis will see largely no harm to their immune system.

Does it count as exercise if I eat pizza, crazy bread, and cheese bread so fast it makes me tired? hehe

I've noticed that if I go to bed high I wake up aching, so I wouldn't be surprised if it does inhibit healing to some point. That's just my entirely unqualified hypothetical speculation however. :P

i've noticed that if i'm sick and i just keep on blazing i don't recover as fast, but if i just kick it in bed and don't smoke i'll be fine the next day.
