noooooooooooo dont grind it up, break it up a little with your fingers so that theres like 6-7 little pieces of nug per big bowl pack. grinding it up is a waste, it makes huge hits, that unless you have lungs like a character from a fairy tale, you will cough up.

Or.. you know, just dont take huge ass hits from the pipe/bong?

Personally I prefer having my weed ground up and smoked that way. Lets me microwave it quicker and easier, packs nice, and burns evenly and I usually only have to light the bowl once.

It really comes down to personal preference. I prefer having it ground up, of course I also am happy as hell when my dealer hooks me up with the shake from his batch of weed, full of nummy keif, and I dont have to break it up at all. No seeds or stems ftw!

Yeah, but when i break it up some pieces fall through the little hole and i guess it gets wasted cuz it just sits there at the bottom where the flame doesnt hit it.

this is what i do, break off a nug big enough to cover the bottom without falling through, then break up the nug into small little pieces and pack the bowl. the more the weed is grinded up the more its going to cherry.. i wouldnt suggest using a grinder for a bowl in a pipe tho. grinders work good with bongs:thumbsup:

yup, I use the base nug as well. Works great!
If for some reason you are down to shake and can't make a proper base nug you can tear off a small piece of a rollin paper, poke a few holes in it and use that as a disposable screen

Take a screen out of one of your faucets...just remember to replace it later or it will spray everywhere

When I left my last two apartments, I left them with no screens in any of the faucets.

Gotta make sure that they are clean though, dont want any rust or calcium buildup on them when you go to smoke through them. I usually stick them under a flame for a few minutes to burn off anything that is on them, after having washed it thoroughly.

I only grind up weed for rolling.
In a bowl, I stick the whole nug in, with what's left of the the stem poking down into the hole.
Those tinky glass hole-covers that look like jacks are also GREAT.

When grinding up your weed, save a small dense nug that is a good sise to not fall through the hole, stick that in the bottom and put everything else on top of that. If done correctly this method works just as good as glass screens

Depending on the size of the hole in the bowl, a glass jack(screen) works nicely once you get it resin'ed in. I just cant stand having to place the damn thing back in repeatedly on my glass pipe, not to mention the hole on mine is so big that I have to get the largest jacks my head shop has, and even then if they dont get put in right they fall through.
