Is it common practice to grind up your weed before putting it in a glass pipe. When i did that, some pieces fell through the hole. Does anybody just put the whole bud in there?

Yes you can. You can either bust it up or not.

Use a screen. You can buy glass screens for about $2 each. Kind of a pain in the ass they fall out, but if you're just using it at home, then it's not biggie.

Or just don't bust it up, or don'rt bust it up as fine. Rather than busting it fine, just pick a bud apart in slightly bigger pieces than busting it.

But no, you don't HAVE TO grind it up.

Yeah, but when i break it up some pieces fall through the little hole and i guess it gets wasted cuz it just sits there at the bottom where the flame doesnt hit it.

And what about the ash falling through the hole? What do i do about that?

if you grind it up, little pieces are gonna fall through until you have some resin built up in your pipe if you're super concerned about it, buy a screen and use it or something...glass screens are great!! a lot of screens have a weird taste, but you don't get any taste with glass screens, so if you want to use one for your piece (although i don't think it's necessary, and i can't think of a time i ever used a screen in my glass pieces when i smoked weed...the only time i did was for salvia), i would recommend a glass one just don't forget it's in there and throw it away

really, it's not that big of a deal. i don't ever use screens in my glass pipes (with the exception of salvia), and so yeah, sometimes little bits of bud or ash fall through. no biggie, because i can get it out when i clean my pipes...so unless you find it extremely annoying, then i wouldn't bother with a screen

u can use a glass screen and u shouldnt be pulling through any weed. what i do is just break off a piece of a nug just big enough to sit on the hole (i call it a base nug) then i grind up the rest of the weed and pack it down on top. or instead of grinding i just rip off a bunch of lil pieces and pack it in tight
