I had to use one of those cash checking place a few weeks ago as my usual bank was closed. I cashed a $440 check, and they took about $7.49 from it I think it was.

I didn't think that was too bad. I happened to go when they were offering 50% off the usual cash checking price.

The places are a joke, but they have to make their money somehow too. No different than a bank account really. You still have to pay a monthly fee for their services.

Cashed it all in and had enough for some green and a pack of ciggarettes. Later after looking at the recipt found out that they took about 10cents off the dollar.
