microns/screen size for hash making

ive heard alot about using panty hose to make bubble hash. i was just wondering if anybody actually knew what size of holes are panty in hose? compairable to what micron silk screen. and the same with the 000. mesh coffee filter, since they are measured differently. i would like to find something equivilant to a 150 micron screen and probably a 40 or 45. or as near to it as possible. thanks.

panty hose too big way too much vegatable matter comes through. Silk scarf or similar weave is good. I use industrial seive screens, not cheap but the last one lasted me fifteen years. Water extraction works well if you can keep the water cold. Check out Robert Clarke's book from Red Eye Press "Hashish" plenty of scientific information and descriptions of practical methods. Industrial supply stores carry specific sized metal screens which can be mounted in frames for such use. Remember the old timers aged the material at least a year before seiving. The best Moroccan hash pollen was aged two years before it was collected and pressed. Ah the old days......:stoned:

thats what i thought about the hose, too big but i wasnt sure. lol, two yrs. it certainly wouldnt last that long now but maybe after i get a stash going. what about aging it after it was pressed? i have read about this also. i would like both dry sieved and bubble, i read an article on combining the two and getting the best of both worlds, flavor and potency. it was like 10-20% bubble with the rest dry. put through a coffee grinder and pressed or cooked into hash burgers. just the shape really, not actually putting it in food. thanks though for the info. we have a tshirt screening place near here but im not sure yet if they just sell the screen itself. i found a 200 mic srceen that is used for straining honey. its a plastic form that fits the top of a 5 gallon bucket for 10$ . but i think this is still too large for what i want.

The larger resin glands are about 70 microns the smallest about 140 microns so best results are with a 70-80 micron screen. that is for the first seiving(best quality) the same raw material can be reseived for a 2nd or 3rd time but the quality decreases as more vegatable material is forced through.
I will make either water or seived hash but I do not combine the two, too easy to get mold from the water hash.
Aging, only works on the raw material the purpose of aging is to breakdown the clorophil and reduce the "Hay" flavor once it has been pressed hash can be preserved for a while (1-2 years) but the thc degrades in heat and oxygen.
Bubble bags make great hash but you need a great deal of material to make it work. I save ALL the trimmings for the bubble bags and even the smaller buds, but it has to be DRY before you can extract a deecent return. DRY as in TOO dry to smoke, dry like crumble to dust dry. Then I freeze it before I add it to the ice water. Cold keeps the resin glands intact once they start to melt and bond they will grab every piece of green and the hash quality goes down very quickly.
I don't know about silk screens we have some here but I keep using my industrial screens. Of course I have to chill them before use but that is just part of the process.
properly done water hash (bubble bags) can produce a 70% THC product that is better by leaps and bounds than any other method. Except possibly hand rubbing. But with hand rubbing you need acres of herb and very strong hands. But hand rubbed hash.... memories of tibet.... where's that chillum...

so i have this backwards? i thought 150 were the larger holes and like 40 were the smaller holes. therefor catching everything in between the 2 screens. ill have to look it up again i guess. it will be a couple of weeks before i get to try it any way. thanks again. i dont have any expierience with the exotics, just smoked some black hash a couple of times. the article did say to dry your bubble very well, like a week or something to make it crumbly.

you got it right top is 150 that keeps out the veg 120/ 80 down to 60 the smaller glands are in the 60 range and the larger are in the 70 range. dry shake the material and collect carefully.
I take the wet bubble hash and put it between waxed paper and roll with a rolling pin. that takes most of the water out then the rest just dries overnight. But then out here the humidity rests about 10% so any thing that is wet dries fast.
we bought a "piece maker" the last time we were in amsterdam. It makes great hash pieces about the size of a quarter and as thick as you like.
