Smoking pills generally isn't a good idea. If you have enough ritalin depending on the dosage chew a couple and snort one for a rush.

I would like to add however that Ritalin is methylphenidate hcl which is a drug similair in effect to cocaine (the two drugs will even compete for the same binding sites). It may be possible to get an effect from smoking methylphenidate but not in its perscribed pill form. To smoke it the methylphenidate would need to be extracted from the pills and the extracted material freebased (liberated from its HCl molecule). Since methylphenidate is soluble in water, alcohol and methanol any of these solvents could be used to extract from the inactive ingredients found in the pills. The inactives include D&C Yellow No. 10 (5-mg and 20-mg tablets), FD&C Green No. 3 (10-mg tablets), lactose, magnesium stearate, polyethylene glycol, starch (5-mg and 10-mg tablets), sucrose, talc, and tragacanth (20-mg tablets) and for the most efficient extraction one would have to find which of these are also soluble in the solvents you are choosing and other extractions may be necessary to get the purest end product. I would only attempt this if you had access to a lot of ritalin and could yeild a sizable amount of pure methylphenidate. Without the waxes, binders and fillers it would be a hell of a lot more effective to snort and from here freebasing could be as simple as using ammonia or baking soda (which would require heat) to liberate the methylphenidate from the HCl it is bound to. The end product would be much easier to smoke or vaporize than if you tried to crush up the pills and sprinkle them on top of a bowl or something...
