Ok, viruses often require a certain temperature to multiply. This is one of the reasons that many viruses cannot infect different species; our temperatures are different. A few viruses aren't as picky about the temperature of their hosts and can hit different species.

Now a fever is your body's way of fighting the virus! Your temperature goes up and the virus can't multiply. Your body (although stressed by its high temperature) can make more antibodies, while the virus is stalled.

So, here's what I do at the first sign of a cold! I turn on my electric blanket. Then I brew up a cup of hot tea- usually herbal, with chamomile in it, Sleepytime tea by Celestial Seasoning is good. Lastly, I fill the tub with really hot water. Then I take my vitamins with the tea, slip into the hot tub and soak as long as the water is hot while finishing the tea. After my bath, I pop into the well warmed bed and sleep as long as I can!

What I have done is basically give myself a "fever", given my body extra vitamins, calming herbs and rest. I work at a school, so I am exposed to EVERYTHING! I am rarely sick. This trick works best at the beginning of a cold or flu. since you are further along, I don't know how well it will work for you. - Granny:hippy:
