I don't see what the problem is in telling them the truth. I don't know your parents but I'd expect them to respect that decision and I don't think you need to lie to them.

I got caught because i was quitting I've been thinking about quitting for a long time cuz im totally broke and i lost a couple good friend cuz theyre totally against it. I finally decided to so i phoned the guy i ususally smoke up with and told him i would give him my pipes and a couple grams of weed cuz i wanted to get rid of it. so i took it all out of my stash and put it inside of some folded blankets in my closet so he could come and get it because i wasnt there.
