Well, there is flushing...then there is plain water H20. Many people do just that (flush their plants under the tap), but there are many threads out there that discuss this. I'm not sure of the percentage or anything, but you can flush them by pouring water over them and waiting until the runoff water goes from yellow to clear (or much less yellow).

Commercial flushing/leaching agents are great for properly flushign your plants, and I know many people use them and I think they work great. Look into getting some of that.

Then after you flush (7-10 days from harvest), you can give them plain, pH adjusted water for the remaining days. Another good technique is to time your waterings so that you will have a couple days of "drying out" at the end of your cycle and you can harvest the plant when it is dry instead of after you just harvested. This will save water...and help the drying process.
