I don't see marijuana being legalize because of federal actions. I think it will, eventually, be legalized state-by-state, one ballot initiative at a time, until so many states have legalized it the federal government will be overwhelmed, especially when those in legal states realize from first-hand observation that it's not destroying society and flooding emergency rooms like they tell us it wil.

Legalizing pot would be a disaster, most of us would have to get jobs.

Legalizing pot is the easy part....then you have to legalize positive+ drug tests by private employers....state by state....employer by employer....enjoy.....

I agree with Gandalf, its going to be state-by-state, unless we get a pretty damn 'radical' person in office who would either revoke the ferdal laws on drugs or put a recovered drug user as leader of it instead of a cop

It's already beginning with the States defying the Fed on medical marijuana.

i'm afraid that those of you who see this as a step forward are merely deluding yourselves. this is just another example of the government caving in to special interest groups and the best that can be hoped for on this path is a step down on the schedule of controlled substances. no progress can be made until the government realizes that it has no right to make up such a list in the first place and allows the people to control their own lives. of what use are state and local laws allowing the medical use of cannabis when the feds can send in their storm troopers at any time to enforce their archaic notions? as concepts such as the au, eu and nau become reality, national sovereignty is replaced by regional sovereignty and the seat of power is further and further removed from the control of the people.

in itself, legalization is a small thing. as a symptom, this prohibition is an important sign post. it reminds us that governments exist for their own welfare and that the people should not settle for the illusion of freedom. as governments consolidate their political and economic powers and offer us short term gains at the expense of control over our own destinies, we have to keep our eye on where that path leads.
