    Spyware

I am absolutely sure all this spyware getting on my system comes from this site. I have run checks before and after visiting here, and the spyware shows up after I go here. My Zonealarm also detects attacks daily. It's getting worse too. I can handle maybe one or two pieces, but Saturday my Search and Destroy found 11 separate malware instances. That's just too much. You guys better do something because this will definitely affect membership.

I'm a computer tech, and have several protective programs running at all times ... I have NEVER seen a malware situation on this website (yet) ... when I had Spybot Search and Destroy and Ad-Aware, (probably what you are running), I had the settings set for maximum sensitivity, and it resulted in showing me all the harmless cookie attempts, and other subtle processes that are always running in the background ... these are normal running processes that the 'anti-spyware' interpreted as 'possibly' hostile ... check your settings ... but, it is a good thing that you took notice, and offered the warning ...

I imagine it comes from sketchy thread computers and all the links that are attached from them. For one thing, I guess I'll just never click on a link in a thread. There seem to be more and more of that, I think because it's so easy to attach a link and stoners generally will do whatever is easiest.

You probably already have something on your computer and when it comes to this site it activates.

That's probably what's going on. At work when we run scans, depending upon what program we use it might show harmless cookies and what not. Usually scanners, when they give you your results, each item will have a different level. Check the security level on each item, do they say low? Cookies will usually come up as low or such. Something like a trojan or backdoor installer you would see with a high rating.

I really don't think it's this site. Links, as mentioned earlier, can take you to shitty sites. Another possibility is you might already have something on your computer that you don't even know is there, like a rootkit. Maybe your computer has been hijacked and someone is using it for something that results in this.

Check your scanner settings, check the security levels of the returned items in the scan, and do extensive malware and virus scanning. It would also really help if you gave us a screenshot of the results or told us what they were returning. Sometimes just running scans won't get rid of the problem, you might need to take some specific tricky steps.
