Bitter Herbs

The transliteration of the words â??bitter herbsâ?� appears two times in the New King James Version. Likewise, two references are found in the Abridged Brown-Driver-Briggs-Hebrew-English Lexicon of the Old Testament.

Both references are in the Pentateuch. The first is found in Exodus 12:8. The second in Numbers 9:11. Both are in connection with eating unleavened bread.

Unleavened bread is always presented to us as a figure of sin in the lives of believers. If you have ever tried it you will know that unleavened bread is not very pleasant to eat. In both of these cases, it is clear that Moses is giving them a substance that is not sweet, as we think of marijuana, but bitter.

Further, the manner of ingestion was eating so perhaps the taste was even more direct. In any case, it was representative of partaking of the body of believers and it seems to signify an addition to an already unpleasant meal.

May I say this kindly - Your walk with God will not be a scrumptious trip to the ice cream store, rather, a trip to a crucifixion with Him.

Bitter herbs translate into some of the suffering we will endure down here, not into enjoying our sinful pleasures.

I pray God will speak to your soul regarding this and He will show you the way about it. But remember, a true study of the Word of God is not a trifling with of some ancient statue in some man made parkâ?¦Christ is ALIVE today in your heart!~

I haven't looked to much into the whole bitter herb people have been talking about but the way you put it I will. Thank you for being a shinning light more a beaken of light for the Lord. In this day and age with the wars and crazy weather I think more and more people will be turning to people like yourself for answers. By reading your post I know that your the kind of person that will be there for them in that hour of need and questions. Keep up the great work you will be in my prayers as well as those that read your posts. God Bless and be prepared one day to hear "Well done good and faithful servant."

LOL...thatâ??s too kind, MM. We should work together to get out the word of God and the emphasis needs to be on Jesus, the Man in the Glory. That's where we go so wrong today as believers.

And that is: Satan never quotes scripture for his offenses, tricks, or doctrines. He always MISQUOTES the verses. Again I couldn't agree with you more. I have slipped and not represented Jesus to the best of my abilitys at times but I always try to come back and make him the focal point.
