I've got more dog training advice, this to use on young dogs while they are still small.
Picking the dog up so that its feet are all off the ground establishes dominance too, and gets the dog used to being handled that way- the same as you want to make a habit of handling its feet (so you can clip the nails later) or sticking your fingers in its mouth (so it doesn't get snitty with the vet).
Damn, hoof to the face. That's one step up from a hockey nose job, and more expensive. But we already knew that horses and everything surrounding them is automatically a bank-breaker, yikes! Your aunt doesn't sound like a fountain of common sense. Hope she likes the new teeth though...
